Are Titanium Wedding Rings For You?

by Veronica Langley

A men's titanium ring is a highly advanced piece of jewelry, highly resistant to scratching and wear. Many men who perform manual labor may wear down their gold wedding rings, but titanium is considerably harder than gold. When you are buying a special ring that will have a great deal of sentimental value, you want that ring to last for a very long time, not wear away over a few years. For that reason, you will want a ring to wear that will still be comfortable years later.

Titanium rings are strong and durable. As they can be scratched only by diamonds or some other hard material, they are good for everyday use. Moreover, any minor blemish can be removed with a quick refinish. This is probably why they are popular and hence available in many varieties. They can be fully customized, inlaid, carved, sculpted, colored and can be accented with gold or precious stones. The Charlie's Angels Halo titanium ring is one such customized ring.

While titanium has very high ductile strength, lightning titanium rings can be bent out of round under extremely high pressure. Apply enough force to such a ring, such as hitting it hard with a car door, and the titanium will be bent. While such warpings are rare and require extreme circumstances to occur, your local jeweler should be able to correct any deformation that occurs.

Under normal use, there will be no change in the metal's color. A jeweler can color the metal for you if you choose, but ordinary use will not result in any discoloration of the titanium. Titanium is referred to as an "inert" metal, which means that it will remain the same and not change color when in contact with sunlight, saltwater, chlorine, or cosmetic products.

Over our lifetimes our bodies can change including the thickness of our fingers. This may make it necessary to have a ring resized. While titanium is very strong and has a high melting point, special tools can be used to stretch or compress titanium rings up to one full ring size if the ring does not contain stones or inlays. Through resizing a man can enjoy the same wedding band throughout his life.

Due to the raising popularity of titanium wedding rings, they are widely available at most jewelery stores. In addition to becoming more widespread, the raising demand has lowered costs for these rings. A discount titanium ring is therefore now a great choice to consider as an alternative to the traditional gold wedding band.

Titanium jewelry offers many advantages over gold, as it is harder and more resistant to scratch and wear. That's why custom rings are a good choice, as they can be worn constantly without damage or wear. Rings can be ordered in a variety of designs. Under normal use, there will be no change in the color of the metal. As an inert metal, titanium will not change color when in contact with sunlight, saltwater, chlorine, or cosmetics. Nearly all respectable jewelers carry lines of titanium as its popularity and reasonable price makes it widespread.
